PP Girls Lacrosse Academy Presidents Day Clinic
The 2016 girls lacrosse season is fast approaching. In preparation for the tryouts, we are hosting a President’s Day Clinic on Monday, February 15, 2016. The clinic will have a performance component and a skills component. We will start with performance training and teach the girls game applicable acceleration and footwork mechanics. After the performance segment, we will focus on the skills and techniques of the game. As we master each skill, we will progressively move toward more complex techniques. This will be a fast-paced clinic and each athlete will be encouraged to step out of her comfort zone. Risk-taking is imperative in order to elevate one’s game. We are going to learn new things and work hard all while having fun.
The clinic will be run by Jessica Griffin. Jessica’s lacrosse resume as a player and coach is outstanding. She is a young, high energy coach who can relate to the girls and push them past their perceived mental and physical limits. She is extremely hands-on and can effectively demonstrate and communicate everything that she teaches. Below are a few highlights of her career.
- Former HS All-American
- Four year starter at UNC-Chapel Hill
- Starting mid-fielder on the 2013 National Championship Team
This clinic is for players with at least two years experience. We want this to be a great opportunity for girls to learn the game in an intimate, but competitive and fast paced environment. We are limiting each session to 20 girls to maximize repetitions. The clinic will focus on the following:
- Speed and footwork
- Stick-work fundamentals
- Shooting techniques
- 3-types of offensive dodges
- Defensive footwork & positioning
- Small-sided drills & competition
