Born: Greenbelt, Maryland

Professional: Richan Gaskins attended DeMatha Catholic High School, and later graduated from Eleanor Roosevelt High School in Greenbelt, MD in 2004 where he earned all-county and All-Gazette honors at outside linebacker. During his senior year, his defense earned state wide recognition for their consecutive shutout streak of 6. A starter on both sides of the ball, Richan excelled on the defensive side enough to earn a football scholarship at Duquesne University.

At Duquesne, he transitioned from outside linebacker to defensive back and became a 2 year starter and integral part of a defense that led Duquesne to four conference championships. Upon finishing his collegiate career, Richan played for the Baltimore Mariners in 2010, and then went into a career of coaching at Northwestern High School (Hyattsville, MD) in 2011. After a year there and helping lead the Wildcats to their first winning season in a decade, he accepted the defensive backs coach position at Gallaudet University.

Coaching Philosophy: Richan centers his coaching philosophy around: “If a man will not work, he shall not eat”. There are no shortcuts to success. Hard work, dedication, and a true passion for what you are doing are the ingredients to developing winners on and off the field.
